Rio de Janeiro City Hall and the Government of Rio de Janeiro State have initiated assisted operations at the Pedro Fernandes Metropolitan BRT Terminal. The project expands passenger integration by incorporating intercity bus services from Nova Iguaçu and São João de Meriti, in addition to existing services from Mesquita. In the initial phase, ten intercity lines are being gradually integrated, with further service additions planned from mid-May.

The integration strengthens connectivity between the Baixada Fluminense region and the city of Rio de Janeiro. Intercity buses will operate at intervals of approximately 20 minutes, while BRT services linking the terminal to the Gentileza Intermodal Terminal will run at intervals of around three minutes. Two service patterns are available on this corridor: Line 70 (local), with an average journey time of 32 minutes, and Line 73 (express), with an estimated travel time of 20 minutes. From May 16, an additional six bus lines from Nova Iguaçu are scheduled to be incorporated into the terminal.

The project introduces the Margaridas Integrated Single Ticket / O Bilhete Único Margaridas (BUM), enabling integrated travel across BRT, VLT (light rail vehicle), and municipal bus services. Passengers can make up to four trips within 20 hours at an integrated fare of BRL5, with a total daily round-trip cost of BRL18.4. Payment is facilitated through the Jaé card.
