ent Bank (ADB) has provided USD2.5 million as grants to the Government of India to mainstream transit-oriented development (TOD) as a strategy for sustainable urban growth. The funding aims to integrate land use and transport planning by promoting compact, mixed-use, walkable development around mass transit corridors. It also seeks to improve urban livability, reduce congestion and emissions, and enhance land value capture and municipal revenues. The report includes multiple case studies that showcase TOD implementation and challenges in various Indian and international cities. These real-world examples provide insight into regulatory frameworks, financial mechanisms, institutional capacity, and on-the-ground outcomes.
