The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has partnered with the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) to launch Technology Pilot Zones for transit solutions. The partnership provides up to CAD100,000 to Ontario companies for pilots on TTC’s network, including buses, stations, and infrastructure, with implementation starting in 2026.
TTC operates subways, streetcars, and buses in Toronto. OVIN leads the program, launched in February 2024, with CAD8 million from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), supporting over 40 SMEs in testing 40 technologies. The zones include partners like the City of Toronto and the Federal Bridge Corporation.
