Previous speakers of the webinar series include:

  • Neil Scales, Director-General, Department for Transport and Main Roads, QueenslandAustralia spoke on June 2 on the Gold Coast Light Rail Project (recording available)

Each video interaction/webinar will be a ‘one-hour stand-alone’ session with a senior official of a leading transit agency developing a major light rail project.

The session will focus on the transit agency’s LRT/streetcar/tram network development and investment plans, key challenges, project progress, contract awards and funding sources.

These focused sessions will give an opportunity to hear from the leaders of these transit agencies in times when travel has become very restricted and it is uncertain when it may open up. We hope that the webinar/video interaction will provide a platform for a very useful exchange of information and ideas.

Key topics to be discussed include:

  • Plans for network expansion, procurement of rolling stock and railway systems, contract awards, timelines, etc
  • Investment plans and sources of funding
  • Key challenges faced by these transit agencies and their initiatives to overcome them
  • Expected short-term and long-term impact of crisis such as COVID-19 on the transit agency’s operations, ridership, farebox revenue, financial performance, network expansion plans and investments
  • Expectations of the agency from suppliers, contractors, financiers, etc.

The fee for participating in this video webinar series is USD400. The fee for participating in one webinar is USD100. The participants will have the option of attending the live video webinar or get access to the recordings.

The registered paid participants will also get free access to a 35-40 page (PPT slides) report on ‘Global Light Rail Projects Report and Database 2020-2035’. The report will provide an analysis of the plans and opportunities in the light rail segment, region-wise plans and opportunities, cost estimates, recent developments, funding sources, timelines, etc.
