FTA to provide competitive grant funds for bus projects, US [free access]

April 28, 2017

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has invited bids to sanction USD55 million in competitive grant funds through FTA’s Low or No Emission (Low-No) Bus Program to promote clean buses. The programme supports projects to bring advanced, American-made bus technologies such as battery electric power and hydrogen fuel cells into service across the country. The last date for the submission of bids is June 26, 2017. The preferred bidders will be announced in September 2017.

The grants will be awarded to transit agencies, state transportation departments, and Native American tribes on a competitive basis. The projects will be evaluated as per the criteria defined in federal law and Notice of Funding Opportunity, which will include the applicant’s demonstration of need, the anticipated reductions in energy consumption through the project as compared to standard buses; and local strategy and capacity for implementing the project.
