Qatar Rail awards TOD contract for Doha Metro [free access]

Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has awarded Arab Engineering Bureau and Astad Project Management a contract to provide design and consultancy services for transit-oriented development (TOD) projects for the Doha Metro. Around 12 sites have been identified as potential locations for the TOD project.

 

The scope of work includes preparation of master plans, detailed designs, construction contracts, and the procurement of contractors and construction management services for all the sites.

 

Doha Metro is being developed in two phases at an estimated cost of USD15 billion. It will comprise four lines (Red, Blue, Gold and Green). Phase I will span 80 km (63 km underground). The Red, Gold and Green lines will together span 75 km and cover 37 stations. Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2019.
