New Flyer to supply 300 natural gas buses to Miami-Dade Transit [free access]

February 15, 2017

New Flyer has secured a USD159-million contract to supply 300 40-foot (12.19-metre) long Xcelsior (R) compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to Miami-Dade Transit in 2017 and 2018. The company will also provide aftermarket support as part of a contract awarded to Trillium CNG to design, build, operate and maintain CNG fuel service stations, upgrade maintenance facilities, and supply CNG fuel.

Miami-Dade Transit is the 15th largest public transit system in the US, and the largest in Florida. It provides service from Miami Beach and Key Biscayne to West Miami-Dade, Broward County, Homestead, Florida City and the Middle Keys.

In addition, New York’s Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) has exercised options under its current contract for the procurement of 28 heavy-duty 40-foot (12.19-metre) and 60-foot (18.28-metre) long Xcelsior CNG buses from New Flyer. NICE has options to procure 25 additional buses in future.
